Atrial Fibrillation Mechanisms and Management:
Integrating Care for Better Outcomes
Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia encountered in clinical practice and is associated with high risk
for morbidity and mortality. As the population ages, this arrhythmia is likely to become increasingly more prevalent.
However, numerous practice gaps exist regarding ideal management of AF, resulting in suboptimal treatment strategies.
The goal of this educational activity is to build consensus between cardiologists and electrophysiologists in implementing
new and effective treatments in patients who present with a variety of cardiovascular comorbidities. Each workshop will
feature a nationally recognized cardiologist and electrophysiologist who will lead a series of highly interactive
case-based studies directed toward clinical cardiologists, cardiology fellows, electrophysiologists, and electrophysiology
fellows.

6:30 – 9:30 PM
|
-
Identify the magnitude of atrial fibrillation (AF)
burden, to treat AF earlier and
more aggressively
-
Define appropriate therapies to
maintain sinus rhythm in order to
halt or control AF recurrence
-
Apply current guidelines to develop
effective treatment strategies that
achieve prolonged periods between
episodes of AF
-
Recognize which patients may benefit
from anticoagulation therapy and
examine strengths and weaknesses of
therapeutic options
